Ms. Rao graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a Bachelor’s degree in sociology. Upon graduation, Ms. Rao went on to receive her California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, as well as a teaching credential in reading. She has devoted the last 16 years to elementary education, and is thrilled to be part of the founding faculty at BASIS Independent Fremont as a Humanities Subject Expert Teacher.
Ms. Rao decided to join BASIS Independent Fremont because she found that the school’s educational philosophy closely mirrors her own approach to teaching. She believes that “students thrive when they are challenged,” and is dedicated to “making learning interesting” in a nurturing, supportive classroom environment. Ms. Rao was also drawn to the two-teacher model at BASIS Independent Fremont, because it not only allows her to teach subjects that she is passionate about, but also is a model that best enables students to reach their highest potential. She is happy to be part of the BASIS Independent Fremont community, where everyone works together to ensure that all students are supported and successful.
When she’s not teaching, Ms. Rao is an avid reader and traveler, and enjoys watching movies with her daughter.
