Mr. Barbarino earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from State University of New York-Fredonia. He also earned his Master of Music degree in Clarinet Performance from San Francisco State University.
Before joining BASIS Independent Fremont, he spent two years teaching piano and choir at BASIS Independent Silicon Valley. Mr. Barbarino’s goal is to get each student excited about music. He loves inspiring students to look forward to coming to class and learning each week.
Mr. Barbarino chose BASIS Independent Fremont because he recognized a consistent pursuit of excellence from administrators, teachers, and students, alike. “The teachers are able to bring their passion and engage every student in the classroom." He knew early on that he wanted to be a part of the contagious energy present at BASIS Independent Schools. He believes strongly in fostering an environment where students feel safe to be creative; he doesn't want them to be afraid to make mistakes in class. "They can take those mistakes and use them as a tool for learning,” says Mr. Barbarino.
Mr. Barbarino’s music career includes playing clarinet in the San Francisco Wind Ensemble and acting as a substitute clarinet player in the Redwood Symphony.
Outside of the classroom, Mr. Barbarino enjoys exploring new restaurants (the Bay Area has the best!), tennis, hiking, and ending the day with a good book. Mr. Barbarino is also a U-Jam Fitness instructor!
