Originally from North Carolina, Ms. Hagopian earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science and Chemistry from Duke University. While at Duke University, Ms. Hagopian taught chemistry to K-12 students through a program called Duke Chemistry Outreach. She conducted research in Environmental Toxicology, specifically studying the health effects of exposure to triphenyl phosphate from common household products. Ms. Hagopian, who is a classically trained ballet dancer, also served as the director of an arts-focused after-school program in North Carolina, where she provided tutoring in math and English and ran the ballet and creative movement classes for children aged three to twelve.
Ms. Hagopian is extremely excited to join BASIS Independent Fremont. She was formerly the science teacher for grades four and five at BASIS Independent Silicon Valley, followed by a year as the Dean of Students for grades five and six. Ms. Hagopian has helped students succeed both in and out of the classroom, and she believes that with the right tools, any student can succeed academically! She loves the energy that primary-aged students bring to the classroom, and as the leader of student support, she is excited to guide them as they reach their highest potential.
After the school day, you may spot Ms. Hagopian twirling around a ballet studio, trying out new science experiments, or exploring California’s great outdoors.
